Mello is a very nervous, 4-month old chihuahua mix puppy who came in with her father and brother. She has not been socialized and will need someone patient to teach her that the world isn't as big and scary as it seems. When she is with her family, she is a playful, silly, typical puppy, but on her own she is very frightened. She would likely do best in a quiet home with adults only or older kids who understand that she will need time to come out of her shell. She might be OK with a dog or cat if given time to acclimate. Once she settles in, she promises to be a fun little companion!
We do NOT respond to PetFinder inquires; we only respond to emails sent to adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org regarding adoption inquires.
We never know how quickly a pet will be adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in a pet but want to see them during our shelter open hours prior to filling out an application, we strongly recommend that you email us at adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org before visiting the shelter to ensure they are still there.
Open hours are Wednesdays 1:30-6pm, and Saturdays and Sundays 10am-2pm for you to come view our adoptable pets. You can apply for animal at the shelter during our open hours or online by emailing adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org and asking for an application. Adoption fees allow our non-profit to continue to help pets in need.
Meet and greets with animals are scheduled after applications have been processed and we’ve determined you are the best fit. We do not operate on a first come, first served basis.
