Meet Wombat
4 months old | Chihuahua mix | 7 lbs

Wombat is a charming little puppy with a huge heart and a personality that quickly wins people over. This 4 month old Chi mix adores being around her people and is happiest when she can follow them from room to room, keeping an eye on everything that’s going on. She is affectionate, playful, and very smart, already learning the routines of home life with impressive speed.

Daily Routine

Wombat likes to ease into her mornings. She prefers to head outside around 7:30 AM for her first potty break, followed by some quality sunbathing time in the yard. After that she comes inside for a small breakfast and spends the morning hanging out nearby while her foster works.

Lunch is around 11:30 AM, followed by a walk around the neighborhood. She usually naps in the early afternoon, then enjoys more time outside in the yard later in the day. Dinner is at about 5:30 PM with the family, followed by another walk. Evenings are spent playing, relaxing with her people, and heading to bed around 8–8:30 PM.

Personality

When Wombat first arrived in her foster home, she bonded quickly with her foster parent. She loves people in general and is happy to be held and cuddled by anyone! Within just a few days, she settled in beautifully and began showing her affectionate, silly side.

She is definitely a “Velcro dog” who loves being near her people. If she can’t find them, she sometimes gathers socks or other laundry and curls up with them in her bed. Wombat enjoys snuggling but prefers to initiate affection herself— and when she does, she gives endless kisses.

She can feel a little anxious when left alone, but this has already improved as she gains confidence.

Playfulness and Energy

Wombat has a great balance of playful puppy energy and relaxed lounging. She greets her people with enthusiastic excitement and then quickly settles down. She loves playing fetch and is impressively good at catching a ball, but she is just as happy relaxing quietly nearby once playtime is over.

Walking and Training

Wombat enjoys two walks a day and especially loves grassy areas, where she may happily pause and relax. She may bark at other dogs she sees on walks, but she responds well to gentle correction and stops when asked.

For a young puppy, she is doing very well with house training. She uses a potty pad indoors about 95 percent of the time and also goes in her designated yard spot or on walks.

Life With Others

Wombat currently lives as the only pet in her foster home. She sometimes barks at unfamiliar dogs while walking but has shown she can share space peacefully with them. A visiting dog in the home did very well with her.

She also lives with a three-year-old child and has become very comfortable playing and interacting with them.

Why Wombat Is Special

Wombat is incredibly loving and surprisingly clever. In just one week she learned her household routines and where she is supposed to go potty.

One of her foster family’s favorite moments happened when they left her in her exercise pen. She managed to climb out, but instead of getting into trouble, they found her peacefully curled up in her dog bed surrounded by a collection of the family’s socks and clothes she had gathered from around the house— her way of keeping her favorite people close. Maybe we should have named her Dobby!

Sweet, loyal, and full of personality, Wombat is ready to bring joy, laughter, and lots of puppy kisses to her forever home.
