It's no secret that Sage has had a rough start. Rescued from an abusive situation in San Diego, this sweet girl is now crossing the country for the ultimate fresh slate.

Sage is currently preparing for her "Freedom Flight"—a 2,400-mile journey from San Diego to NYC. She'll be traveling with a trusted companion committed to her comfort every mile of the way, arriving at Newark Airport (EWR) on February 23rd at approximately 3:30 PM.

The Journey to Healing

Sage is a work in progress, but the reward is worth the effort. Because of her past, she is wary of fast movements and select objects (she is definitely not a fan of brooms). She needs an adopter who understands fear-based behavior—someone who will let her go at her own pace and assure her that hands are only for petting, never for hurting.

What Sage needs to succeed:



A Private Oasis: An NYC adopter with a private backyard or internal courtyard would be a huge plus. Having a quiet space to decompress away from the sensory overload of city sidewalks is vital for her.


Adult-Only Home: Due to her fearful nature and potential to defend herself when startled, we require a home without children.


Airport Welcome: We are looking for an adopter or foster who can ideally provide an airport pick-up on 2/23 to start her New York chapter off right.



Foster-to-Adopt

Sage is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program, allowing you to bond with her and ensure you're the right match before making it official.

If you have the quiet home and the patient heart required to help Sage bloom, please reach out. Let's show her that the next 2,400 miles lead to the love she's been waiting for.

Priority will be given to those residing within the 5 boroughs of NYC. If living outside of the boroughs, must be willing to travel to NYC for transport pick-up, veterinary services, and planned adoption events.

Vaccinated for Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella. Neutered and microchipped. Tested for vector-borne illnesses. Current on flea, tick, and heart worm prevention.

To apply to foster/foster-to-adopt to adopt Sage, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for a foster application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.

Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.
