Chihuahua Dogs Available for Adoption

2 year old male Chihuahua mix, about 14 pounds. *TRI-POD* Meet Lyonel — a little dog with a BIG personality! 🐾 Lyonel is absolutely bursting with character. His adorable underbite sends his teeth in every direction, giving him a permanently goofy, heart-melting smile you won’t forget. And while he can bark, he much prefers to “talk” in his own hilarious way—you truly have to hear it to believe it!
A friend to everyone Lyonel loves people, plain and simple. He may give a tiny bark when greeting you (he just gets excited!), but it quickly turns into tail wags, snuggles, and sweet kisses. He’s fantastic with kids, cats, and other dogs—basically, he’s never met a stranger. Playful, resilient, and unstoppable, don’t let his missing leg fool you—Lyonel doesn’t let anything slow him down! He loves chasing balls, zooming around the yard, and playing with other dogs. He’ll even attempt to jump onto the couch (with mixed success, but lots of determination!). He runs fast, hops over obstacles, and embraces life with incredible spirit. Smart and motivated Lyonel is highly motivated by food and affection—so training him can be both fun and rewarding. He goes into his crate easily and enjoys a wide variety of treats, with no known allergies.
A few things he’s still working on - he’s doing well with potty habits overall but may need a little supervision to stay on track. On leash, he can get a bit enthusiastic—pulling and spinning—so some basic obedience training would go a long way. The good news? It’s also a perfect bonding opportunity for his future family.
A future therapy superstar? Many people who meet Lyonel say the same thing: he would make an amazing therapy dog. His affectionate, joyful energy is contagious, and he has a special way of making people smile. In short: Lyonel is loving, playful, a little quirky, and completely unforgettable. He’s ready to bring joy, laughter, and lots of cuddles into someone’s life.

Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older. Puppies are adopted with a refundable spay/neuter deposit (in addition to the adoption fee) and adopters are required to get their puppy to our vet for their pre-scheduled spay-neuter appointments. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state. You must live within a three-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), so we can arrange for a home visit.

The Chihuahua is a small breed famous for its confidence, loyalty, and big personality, despite its tiny size. Originating from Mexico, these dogs are known for their large, expressive eyes and alert, curious nature. Chihuahuas make excellent companions, forming strong bonds with their owners and displaying a protective nature. They come in a variety of coat colors and patterns, with both long and short coats, making them a diverse and adorable addition to any family.
