Chacha is a sweet, gentle girl who has been through a big change and is hoping her next chapter can be a peaceful one. Chacha was surrendered in Texas after her elderly owner passed away. After having a home and a person of her own, she's now looking for someone who will give her the quiet, comfortable retirement she deserves.
She is friendly and comfortable with other dogs and would be happy sharing her home with a canine companion. She has not had exposure to cats or children, so those introductions would need to be slow, thoughtful, and respectful. We suspect she may do well with cats, but she'll need the proper introductions to make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable.
Chacha is not a big fan of the kennel and will let you know about it with some barking and whining. Fortunately, she does well with free rein of the house and would much rather be a cozy little house dog than spend time behind a kennel door.
Cozy is definitely Chacha's specialty. Give this girl a fluffy pillow, and she'll be perfectly content settling in for a good nap. She also takes her meal times very seriously, a girl has to have her priorities!
She doesn't need a busy household or endless adventures. She needs someone who understands the beauty of giving an older dog a peaceful place to land, a place where she can relax, feel safe, and know she's home.

Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car - it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and recommendations to keep your Senior dog in top shape.
ChaCha is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on A9/12/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven't arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start's Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Visit our Foster to Adopt Program page to learn more. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start's veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.
