Asher is a sweetheart senior Chorkie, born 8/30/2017. He is a kind and caring dog, loves companionship and someone to give him attention. A Chorkie is a mix of Chihuahua and Yorkie. He is smart (and maybe even a little too smar for his own good :). Asher likes being played with, but he also enjoys moments of quiet and peace where he just lounges. He's still active and energetic and will sometimes put on a a show by racing back and forth. Asher enjoys being outside when it snows, but doesn't like being out in the rain (he doesn't like to get wet).
PERSONALITY
good with people and kids
loves to be pet or just hang out
not used to being around other animals all the time, but he has been around other dogs and did well
he's pretty chill although like a lot of small dogs, he is reactive to sounds
FOOD / DIET
beef flavored Benefit Incredibites (all his life!)
food cannot be suddenly changed because it upsets his stomach
has enjoyed Milkbones and Pedigree Dentastix in the past
TRAINING
potty trained for the most part
recently there have been a few times that he pees when left alone
knows some commands
walks on a leash
doesn't like being kenneled and for the most part, he's been okay left out alone
will need a refresher on house training and time to adjust in a new environment
THE PERFECT HOME
a person or couple with a predictable schedule
he would also be okay with kids
calm environment without a lot of hustle and bustle
somewhere he doesn't have to be kenneled frequently
someone who has time to give him attention
fenced yard with a little space so he can have the thrill of running around carefree without a leash
Asher hasn't spent much time at dog parks, but he enjoys an occasional short or long walk. He enjoys car rides if he's secure and not just loose in the backseat. If you're looking for a small companion, Asher might just be the Chorkie for you!
The suggested adoption donation for Asher is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.
Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal's foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.
Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal's needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.

If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you. Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost. If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice. If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses. [Muddy Paws can also suggest a vet with a reduced cost for alters.] All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age. All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized. Thank you in advance for your compliance.
