DESCRIPTION

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.
Rover is a happy, playful little pup who’s ready to take on the world with toys in his mouth and joy in his heart.

At just around 7 weeks old, Rover is very much a puppy — curious, goofy, and eager to learn. He’s friendly with people, enjoys lap time, and absolutely loves his toys. Watching him play is pure entertainment, especially with those adorable ears and his bouncy puppy energy. He’s the kind of pup who will happily romp around, then curl up close when he’s ready to rest.

Rover does well with adult men and women, children over 10, and small dogs. Because he’s so young, he’s flexible and will be happy either as an only dog or with a companion, as long as he has love, attention, and plenty of playtime. Like all puppies, he’ll need patience and consistency for potty training, chewing, and basic manners, but he’s very trainable and ready to learn whatever his new family wants to teach him.

Rover was found abandoned in a wooded area with his siblings, without food or water. He had ticks, fleas, and significant skin issues when he entered rescue, but with proper care he is on the mend and doing well. Despite his rough start, Rover has shown nothing but resilience and a joyful spirit.

He may bark a little when playing with his siblings — just typical puppy talk — and he’s expected to do all the normal puppy things as he grows and explores his world. Toys, enrichment, and positive guidance will help him thrive.

Rover is looking for a committed, loving home that understands puppies take time, patience, and lots of play. In return, he’ll give endless smiles, silly moments, and unconditional love as he grows into the amazing dog he’s meant to be.

Rover is a sweet, handsome baby with a bright future ahead — all he needs now is someone to love him, play with him, and help him grow!

Rover is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 2/7/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.

If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.

*Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.*

If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
