Chihuahua and Rat Terrier Dogs Available for Adoption

Meet Theodore!

This sweet little guy is about 13 pounds and four years old. He appears to be a mix of dachshund, chihuahua, and possibly boston terrier or rat terrier. He is great with other dogs, and very tolerant of playful puppies!

He was found wandering town just before a large snowstorm hit, so he was brought to a foster home. No owners were found, and he was not micro chipped, so he is now looking for his forever family!

Theodore loves toys, once he settles in is very playful with other dogs, and he has a very healthy appetite! Theodore is both house trained and crate trained. He is happy to sleep in the bed at night, and he curls up right beside you, but he also will be happy to sleep in his crate. While he is very sweet, he’s a bit of a nervous little guy, and we feel that it would not be conducive for him to live in a home with children. They are just a bit too active and unpredictable for him. We recommend junior high and older, but he would be most content with a quiet home. He currently lives in a foster home with a married couple and their 16 year old daughter. He lives with a 13 year old golden retriever and a 1 year old chiweenie. He hasn’t been around cats that we know of.

He travels okay in the vehicle, but we do crate him in the back seat. He is also happy to ride in your lap if you have one available! He is learning to walk on a leash. He will attach to his person quickly, and enjoys snuggling in blankets on the couch or bed. He really loves the heated blanket when it’s cold! He does well going in and out in the back yard and likes to spend time outside sunbathing.
