Meet Mateo!
Mateo is a handsome mixed-breed boy estimated to be around 4 years old and weighing approximately 11 pounds. He came to us as a stray and sadly, was never reclaimed. Mateo loves staying close to the people he trusts most. Because new experiences can make him feel nervous and unsure, he does best with slow, gentle introductions to new people and environments. He’s looking for a patient and understanding adopter who will give him the time and space he needs to settle in and build confidence at his own pace. Once he feels safe, Mateo enjoys soft pets, affection, and companionship. With love, patience, and a low-key home, we know his fun and spunky personality will truly shine. And to top it all off - he has the coolest little mohawk!
Mateo would do best in a home with children ages 12 and older. He did well when meeting another small-breed dog, and we think another canine companion could help him continue to gain confidence and learn the ropes! A meet and greet would take place at the shelter with other dogs living in the home to ensure it is a good match. Mateo has the potential to live with feline friends with proper introductions.
