DESCRIPTION
Meet Amaretto
Amaretto is a Chihuahua mix puppy born 11/27/25 and one of the four males in the litter.
Amaretto is a sensitive, expressive puppy who forms strong bonds with his people. He has a unique habit of looking up at you and giving little head nods to communicate and get your attention. In new situations he can initially act tough and may give a warning growl when unsure, but once he realizes he is safe, he quickly softens and becomes extremely affectionate. After warming up, he seeks attention and will happily cover you in kisses.
Amaretto was rescued with his siblings and their mother Brandy from a hoarding situation involving more than 30 Chihuahuas. He was raised in a foster home with extensive daily human interaction before coming to our Van Nuys rescue.
He is expected to stay small as an adult and will receive full veterinary care including vaccines, microchip, and neuter when appropriate.
Amaretto needs a patient adopter who understands small dog behavior and will allow him a proper adjustment period. He should not immediately be put face to face with new people until he is comfortable. Once settled, he becomes deeply loyal and loving and will bond closely with his person.
ABOUT: CHIHUAHUA DOG BREED
The Chihuahua is a small breed famous for its confidence, loyalty, and big personality, despite its tiny size. Originating from Mexico, these dogs are known for their large, expressive eyes and alert, curious nature. Chihuahuas make excellent companions, forming strong bonds with their owners and displaying a protective nature. They come in a variety of coat colors and patterns, with both long and short coats, making them a diverse and adorable addition to any family.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
