DESCRIPTION
Check out our tiniest little senior boy, Leroy (A566454), who is in need of a home where he can live out the rest of his golden years. Leroy arrived at our shelter on March 25th as a stray who obviously had a home before arriving in our care. The shelter was immediately overwhelming for him, and he spent his first few days wrapped up in a blanket on his bed with his head tucked into himself. While he still feels this way, it seems that he feels a little better now that he has entered out adoption area. Now, Leroy will approach the kennel gate to greet you and often waits at its edges for people to stop by his kennel. He is an extremely calm and gentle guy who likes affection and doesn't mind having someone stop in to sit with him. We believe him to be around 10 years old, and don't believe he can see or hear very well based on our observations in time spent with him. This doesn't seem to bother him or hold him back much at all. We are unsure about his history with dogs, cats or children since he arrived as a stray, but we do know that he would make a lovely companion for someone... maybe even another senior? If Leroy sounds like a senior that you wouldn't mind having around, he would love to meet you! He is a small, Chihuahua mix that definitely would not mind an apartment or smaller living space. Please stop in to meet him today! Leroy is guesstimated to be 10 years old and weighs 12 lbs. All dogs adopted from Huntsville Animal Services are spayed/ neutered, microchipped, dewormed, appropriately vaccinated, and receive a topical 90-day flea/ tick preventative. Ready to meet Leroy? All you have to do is stop by our shelter at 4950 Triana Blvd and head to our dog areas. You can find him in kennel D2. All adopters must be 19 years or older with a valid ID
ABOUT: CHIHUAHUA DOG BREED
The Chihuahua is a small breed famous for its confidence, loyalty, and big personality, despite its tiny size. Originating from Mexico, these dogs are known for their large, expressive eyes and alert, curious nature. Chihuahuas make excellent companions, forming strong bonds with their owners and displaying a protective nature. They come in a variety of coat colors and patterns, with both long and short coats, making them a diverse and adorable addition to any family.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
