DESCRIPTION
Bartok is a big-eared, toy-loving guy with a strong opinion about strangers. He wasn't built for a busy, social lifestyle and does best in a quiet home where not much changes day to day.
He takes time to warm up and has clear boundaries. He does not like being grabbed or handled by people he doesn't know, so no young kids for him. With his person, though, it's a different story. He's loyal, attached, and happy to be close once he trusts you.
Bartok is mostly potty trained and does fine in an apartment setting as long as people understand that strangers can't approach and interact with him. He may be okay with cats, but he is very curious and will need supervision and structure. It won't be an instant, seamless match.
His fun side comes out with toys. He loves carrying them around, especially his Lambchop, and will happily steal one and run off like it's a game. He can be goofy and playful when he feels safe.
Bartok needs a patient person who respects his space and is not looking for a social dog. In the right home, he's a loyal companion with a playful streak and a lot of personality.
Bartock is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 5/16/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 830 AM and 1130AM. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven't arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start's Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Visit our Foster to Adopt Program page to learn more. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start's veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.
