Chihuahua and American Staffordshire Terrier Dogs Available for Adoption

FOSTER OR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT NEEDED ASAP – ROCCO (FKA CEDRICK)

Rocco (formerly Cedrick) arrived on the September 2024 Beaumont, TX transport and was adopted on January 4, 2025. Due to ongoing aggression from another dog in the home — including two recent attacks that required emergency veterinary care with sutures and staples — his current family has determined they cannot safely manage the situation. He needs placement as soon as possible.

Based on his Wisdom Panel DNA, Rocco is primarily Chihuahua, American Staffordshire Terrier, and Jack Russell Terrier — which explains his compact size, athleticism, and energetic personality.

Rocco currently weighs 38 lbs but is carrying a little winter weight and could comfortably lose about 3–4 pounds.

About Rocco:
• Gregarious, social, and happy
• Very athletic and agile — loves to zoom and go for walks
• Highly food motivated (bully sticks are a favorite)
• Enjoys cuddling and sleeping close to his people
• Knows “Sit” and “Down” and comes when called

Dog Compatibility:
Rocco enjoys playing with most dogs. He does best with non-dominant dogs and should avoid larger dominant males.

Children:
Best suited for a home with older, dog-savvy children or adults.

Containment:
He can clear a 4’ fence, so a secure 6’ fence is required, or he must be kept leashed.

Prey Drive:
High prey drive — no small domestic animals (birds, rabbits, etc.). He is, however, an excellent mouser and enjoys hunting voles and mice outdoors.

While you foster, we will provide a crate, food, supplies, and veterinary care at our partner vet office.

Rocco is an active, affectionate dog who needs a stable environment where he can feel safe and continue to thrive.
