DESCRIPTION
Meet Checkers!
Checkers is a sweet and affectionate 2-year-old Cattle Dog mix with a heart of gold. This friendly 47-pound gentleman combines the loyal intelligence of his breed with a remarkably easygoing nature. He gets along wonderfully with everyone, including other dogs, cats, and people. He is leash and crate trained, has a quiet demeanor, and has a manageable energy level—active but not overly frisky.
Due to his current foster’s demanding schedule, his house training needs a more consistent routine to be perfected. Checkers has a slight limp in one back leg and a scar on his face, but these do not affect his happy and loving spirit. He is ready to bring his devoted companionship to a patient, understanding home.
Checkers is located in Houston, Texas. Transport to most states is available for an additional fee of $300.
ABOUT: CATTLE DOG DOG BREED
The Cattle Dog is a diligent and robust herding breed known for its agility, intelligence, and hardworking nature. Originating in Australia, Cattle Dogs are highly energetic and require ample exercise and mental stimulation. With their remarkable problem solving skills and unwavering loyalty, they excel in various canine activities and make excellent companions for active owners. Their distinctive blue or red coat, sturdy build, and alert expression reflect their heritage as versatile working dogs.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
