Hi… I’m Avena!
I’m a 2-year-old Catahoula mix girl, about 35 pounds of pure snuggle potential. I’m spayed, fully vaccinated, potty trained, crate trained, and working hard on my leash skills (I’m basically a house-dog professional at this point). Beauty and brains? I mean… I don’t want to brag, but my foster family might.
I didn’t have the easiest start in life. I was rescued from a large group of dogs in Mexico after being abandoned in what turned out to be a not-so-great “fake rescue” situation. But here’s the thing—I didn’t let it make me bitter. I’m still incredibly gentle, trusting, and full of love. I’ve done the hard part already. Now I’m ready for my soft, cozy forever chapter.
Why you’ll fall in love with me:
Couch Companion Extraordinaire – I take my snuggle duties very seriously. I’ll curl up right next to you (personal space is overrated), and if you stop petting me too soon, I’ll give you a polite little paw tap. Just doing quality control.
Certified Cozy Girl – Mornings are for slow starts, head scratches, and peaceful vibes. Apartment life? Perfect. Yard? Not required. Blankets? Highly encouraged.
Zoomie Surprise – I’m mostly a calm little loaf… until I suddenly remember I have legs and do the cutest zoomies you’ve ever seen. You’re welcome.
Gentle Playmate – I love my toys and enjoy wrestling with my foster brother (who is hilariously about a quarter of my size). I’m playful but incredibly gentle—I wouldn’t hurt a flea.
Dog-Friendly Darling – I do great with other dogs with proper introductions and would truly love a canine sibling or two to lounge and play with. I’m happiest when I’m not the only pup in the house.
Kid Approved – I’m good with kids! Cats are still a mystery to me.
I do have mild separation anxiety. I might whimper briefly when you leave—just to let you know I already miss you—but I settle down quickly like the brave girl I am.
My dream home? Calm, cozy, and full of companionship. I’m not looking for a nonstop adventure lifestyle. I’m more of a “let’s relax together and maybe share snacks” kind of gal.
Oh! And fun fact: I don’t actually know my name yet. That means you can keep Avena or choose something new, and I’ll happily learn it—as long as it’s said with love (and maybe a treat).
My adoption fee is $350, which covers my spay, vaccinations, and microchip.
If you’re looking for a gentle, sweet, low-drama cuddle bug who will slide right into your heart (and your lap), I’m already mentally unpacked.
