My name is Zoie. I am 13 years old and weigh 20 pounds. I need a new home because my owner had to move without me. I am being fostered in Lawrence, KS.
I am blind and deaf, but healthy. My hearing and blindness makes navigating a little tricky at first with new surroundings, but also I've learned to be pretty adaptable to new environments without complaint- I love to explore! I'm also ok with being picked up and moved if needed (like onto my favorite spot on the couch). Despite my disabilities, I'm moving great, and can handle some stairs if I take them slow.
I'm a sweet, quiet old lady who is enjoying my time these days exploring new smells and situations.
.
I absolutely love to cuddle under blankets on the couch close to people.
I have no problem with my foster dog friends, though I'm not up for rough house playing anymore.
I love outside time where I can explore
I get along with my other boston friend & all people
I would rather not go out in the rain without a buddy to guide me.
I need a loving household that will let me work at my own slow pace.
Here's a little more about me:
Housetrained? working on a routine. Have had accidents but getting better
Leash-trained? I do great on a leash, but I work on my own pace and love meandering to smell the flowers and smells along the way.
Rides well in car? yes
Good with other dogs? yes, though I'm a low energy dog
Good with cats? not yet tested
Good with young children? yes, but only if they're there for gentle touches.
Good with strangers? yes. I love all people!
Shy or confident? uncertain at first, but I love familiar people.
Barks? So far, never!
Apartment qualified? Depends. I would prefer a yard or frequent outdoor time.
Any Special needs or Health Issues? see above
Adoption Fee? $ 150
The adoption process starts with an Online Adoption Application you can find at ''https://www.adoptaboston.com/adoption-application.
All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Other medical needs diagnosed while in foster care are also treated prior to adoption.
MABTR requires a fenced in area from families who own their home, however we DO adopt to apartment complexes and communities where fences are not permitted due to leases and covenants. In these cases a leash law must be enforced. We do not accept invisible fencing.
MABTR only adopts to families residing in NE, CO, MO, KS, IA, WY, SD, ND, ID, UT, MT, MN, and NW AR due to the lack of volunteer support in other states, no exception even if you are willing to drive.
