My name is Tucker. I am a 9 year old Boston/Bulldog MIX and weigh 34 pounds. I need a new home because my mom was going away for a while and not able to care for me. I am being fostered in Jefferson City, MO.
I need a home with no other animals, as I would rather not be around other dogs or cats. I haven’t been around them enough to know how to behave.
I don’t act my age and have the energy of a two-year-old. I love to play with toys but tend to destroy any soft toys so please only give me more durable toys that I can’t tear apart and eat the insides. I have a beautiful smile,
I have a Chewbacca type growl/whimper to get your attention when I need something but don’t let it fool you, I will keep what I need a secret until you finally get it right. I rarely ever bark unless I am super excited otherwise you will only hear me panting and my sweet Boston/English bulldog sounds.
I get along with kids, men, and women but I tend to listen to my foster mom more than my foster dad. My foster dad spoils me so I always guilt him in to getting on the floor with me to play. My human foster sister, who is 14, loves to play with me too but I like to jump on her in bed to get her attention. I love going on car rides and looking out the window.
Here's a little more about me:
Housetrained: I am house trained and will tell you when I need to go outside and bell trained
Leash-trained: No, I will pull on my leash extremely hard. I am super strong and like to pull on my leash even when on walks.
Rides well in car: I love car rides.
Good with other dogs: No
Good with cats: No
Good with young children: I recommend kids 10 and older. I don’t realize how big I am and may knock younger children over.
Good with strangers: Yes.
Shy or confident: confident
Barks: only when I’m having fun.
Apartment qualified: Not recommended because I need more leash training.
Any Special needs or Health Issues: I have a small fatty lump on my chest that is nothing to worry about. I do have a little cloudiness in my eyes but the doctor checked me out and didn’t see any cataracts.
Adoption Fee? $200
The adoption process starts with an Online Adoption Application you can find at ''https://www.adoptaboston.com/adoption-application.
All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Other medical needs diagnosed while in foster care are also treated prior to adoption.
MABTR requires a fenced in area from families who own their home, however we DO adopt to apartment complexes and communities where fences are not permitted due to leases and covenants. In these cases a leash law must be enforced. We do not accept invisible fencing.
MABTR only adopts to families residing in NE, CO, MO, KS, IA, WY, SD, ND, ID, UT, MT, MN, and NW AR due to the lack of volunteer support in other states, no exception even if you are willing to drive.
