Border Collie and Retriever Dogs Available for Adoption

Meet Dexter, an eleven month old Border Collie/Retriever mix weighing around 60 pounds.

Dexter is a fun-loving, goofy guy who’s ready for a fresh start! He was originally adopted from us but returned after a couple of months, and now he’s looking for a home that can truly match his playful, energetic personality.

This outgoing boy is still very much a puppy at heart—he loves squeaky toys, belly rubs, and getting out for walks. Dexter is always up for fun and thrives on attention, happily soaking up all the love you’re willing to give.

He’s currently working on his manners, including learning not to jump up when he’s excited. Dexter has also shown some herding instincts (including trying to herd cats), so a home without cats—and possibly without young kids—may be the best fit for him.

While his previous adopters mentioned he seemed scared, we haven’t seen any abnormal fear here. What we do see is a happy, social dog who just needs the right environment, guidance, and continued training to help him shine.
