Meet Woodson! He’s a 6-year old Grande Bleu de Gascon hound and he’s looking for his forever home. He’s a large boy, weighing in at around 120lbs, with a large voice and a friendly demeanor.
Woodson is neutered, HW negative, and up to date on vaccines. He is people friendly, dog friendly, and cat friendly. He’s crate trained, but in true hound fashion he will bellyache about going in for the first few minutes before settling. He walks well on a leash, takes treats gently, and knows commands like “Sit,” and “Paw.”
Woodson would do best in a home with children over the age of 12. He has a layered relationship with food and needs someone who is experienced with hound breeds and has a commanding presence that can firmly and effectively redirect him if needed. He uses his big hound voice to alert and disarm. Woodson is a vocal hound, so apartment living is not suitable for him. He’d be much better in an environment that allows him to bay the way he was born and bred to do.
All in all, Woodson is a wonderful dog, and he’s going to make someone a wonderful companion. If he tugs at your heart the way he does to ours, please visit AllHoundRescue.org/adopt to fill out an adoption questionnaire and get one step closer to welcoming this regal gentleman into your life.
