Meet Russ – The Loyal Heart Who’s Ready to Come Home for Good
Some dogs bounce into your life like fireworks. Russ is different. He’s the steady flame—the quiet presence at your feet, the soft sigh from the couch, the gentle eyes that say, “I’m just happy to be here with you.” And more than anything, he’s hoping his next home will be his forever one.
Russ is a calm, soulful hound with that classic, easygoing charm. He settles naturally into a routine and finds joy in life’s simple things: long walks, sunny nap spots, and being near his people. He’s the kind of dog who makes a house feel warmer just by being in it.
He has been deeply loved. Originally adopted from Mending Spirits at age two, Russ spent several wonderful years with a family who adored him. When they were forced to move to housing that didn’t allow dogs, they made the heartbreaking decision to help him find a safe new landing place. Now, Russ is ready to start his next chapter—with someone who can promise him forever.
In the home, Russ is a dream. He’s fully potty trained, well-mannered, and trustworthy whether he’s relaxing in his crate or enjoying free roam of the house. He knows his basic commands and listens well—though true to his hound nature, he sometimes likes to think things over first. That little streak of stubbornness? It just makes him more endearing.
He’s generally quiet, saving his voice for when he wants to come back inside and, for reasons only he understands, during car rides. He loves getting outside and would thrive with a family who enjoys longer walks where he can stretch his legs and follow his nose.
Russ does well with other dogs, though he prefers to keep his food and treats to himself—fair enough! Because he has a strong prey drive, he wouldn’t be a good fit for a home with cats or small animals.
If you’re looking for a steady, affectionate companion who is past the puppy chaos but still full of life, love, and loyalty, Russ is waiting.
About Me (From Russ)
Hi, I’m Russ—though if you’re impressed by how handsome I am, you can call me Russell.
I’m a laid-back guy who believes in enjoying the good things: long walks, cozy naps, and being close to my people. I’m house-trained, polite, and trustworthy when left alone. I know my basic commands and I try my best—sometimes I just need a second to think about it (hound logic).
I like other dogs just fine, but I prefer not to share my food or treats. Those are special to me. I also have a strong chase instinct, so cats and small critters wouldn’t be the best roommates.
If you have older, respectful kids and a love for long walks with plenty of sniffing breaks, we might be perfect together.
Mostly, I’m just looking for a calm, loving home where I can finally stay forever.
Could that be with you?
