Meet Mario! At just under 2 year old, Mario has already lived a lifetime of waiting — he and his brother Yoshi spent an unbelievable 373 days in an overcrowded shelter, literally growing up in a kennel before finally getting their chance in a foster home. Now after a couple of weeks learning what home life even means, Mario is slowly discovering the comforts of a home, routines, and that humans can be pretty great.

Mario is a fun, goofy boy who approaches life like everything is brand new and exciting — because for him, it is. Mario will need adopters who understand patience and are willing to help him catch up on the home training and confidence he missed out on. The good news? He’s treat motivated and eager to learn, making training both possible and rewarding.

He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is even cat-friendly, and he would truly thrive in a home with another playful pup to help show him the ropes. Around 50 pounds, neutered, heartworm negative, and ready to start his real life, Mario is waiting for someone willing to give him the future he always deserved. Once submitted, we will reach out to approved applicants by phone. We may also suggest other amazing dogs in our care who could be a great fit for your home.

LOCATION & TRANSPORT:

This dog is currently in South Mississippi. Local and out-of-town adopters are welcome. For out of town adopters, we offer virtual meet-and-greets and can arrange transport to many states in the Northeast. (The $300 adoption fee includes transport to the city on this listing. Our transports run every 2-3 weeks to that location.) We cannot adopt to Rhode Island due to import restrictions.

VETTING:

All of our dogs are cleared by a licensed veterinarian for transport and arrive to their adopters spayed/neutered with age-appropriate vaccines completed and are microchipped. Note: We cannot guarantee full grown size or breed mix. Both are guesses based on physical characteristics and any known history.
