Meet Mississippi 🐾

Mississippi is a handsome two-year-old Lab mix with a heart as big as his name. This sweet boy was found running the streets before animal control stepped in and contacted us for help. From the moment he came into rescue, Mississippi has shown nothing but gratitude, intelligence, and a whole lot of love to give.

Mississippi is one smart pup! He already knows his basic commands — sit, lay down, shake, and stay — and he’s eager to keep learning. He’s fully house trained, neutered, current on all vaccinations, and heartworm negative, so he’s more than ready to settle into his forever home.

He does wonderfully with other dogs and even does well around horses, making him a great fit for a variety of homes — whether that’s a family in town or someone with a little land to roam. Mississippi is the kind of dog who bonds deeply with his people and thrives on companionship.

After surviving life on the streets, Mississippi deserves a soft bed, a loving family, and a place to finally call home. If you’re looking for a loyal, smart, and all-around wonderful companion, Mississippi might just be your perfect match. 💙

Important transport notes:
• We cannot do meet-and-greets. The trip is long and demanding, and it would not be safe or fair for a dog or puppy to travel north and then return to Texas. We can take a dog back if it doesn’t mesh with the family, but that has very rarely happened.
• No deposits are accepted.
• All adoption fees are paid in person at pick-up.

Missouri:
* Herculaneum (south of St Louis) - Friday evening
Illinois:
• Collinsville (north of St. Louis) - Friday evening
• Springfield - Friday evening
• Bloomington / Normal - Friday evening
• Oglesby - Saturday morning
• Roscoe - Saturday morning
Wisconsin:
• Sun Prairie - Saturday late morning
• Fond du Lac - Saturday early afternoon

Additional notes:
• Green Bay area adopters meet in Fond du Lac
• Joliet & Davenport area adopters meet in Oglesby or Roscoe
• Milwaukee area adopters: we do not have a Milwaukee stop, but we do stop in Sun Prairie, Fond du Lac, and Roscoe (near Rockford)

Medical & Spay/Neuter Information:
Most puppies travel with two rounds of vaccines, and sometimes three. Occasionally, we may not have had a puppy long enough for a second round.

Puppies under 6–8 months of age are not spayed or neutered. Spaying or neutering is a required condition of adoption and must be completed by the puppy’s first birthday, at the adopter’s expense. Out-of-state surgery costs are not included in the adoption fee.

Atlanta Texas Area Spay Neuter Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Adoption proceeds go directly toward:
• Spaying and neutering dogs for low-income families in Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana
• Medical care for rescued puppies and dogs
• Emergency veterinary assistance for families in need when possible

Breed is our best estimate based on the puppy’s appearance and, when known, the mother’s appearance. Fathers are rarely known, and litters can have multiple fathers, meaning puppies may be half-siblings with different breed mixes.
