Meet Evie, a 1-year-old Black Lab mix, weighing around 44 pounds (as of 2/12/26). This girl was surrendered with her sister when their owner could not care for them in Tennessee. But Evie stays strong! She knows somewhere over the rainbow is a home waiting just for her!
Evie is a sweet, shy girl who loves kids and get along with other dogs. If she's behind a fence, she may bark her displeasure at not being able to spy on the neighbors (she loves good gossip), but when she's with her people, she's the nicest pup you ever did see! If you love giving belly rubs, Evie will be more than happy to give you a belly to rub. Despite being shy at first, this girl loves attention and can't wait to live the pampered lifestyle of a New England pooch!
She has been on a leash, does well in a crate and does well in a car. Sounds like a roadtrip is in your future! We think Evie is housebroken and she does use a dog door, but she still asks for patience for when she adjusts to your home. Right now, she likes to have her meals close by to her and isn't a fan of family-style meals, but she's working hard on not guarding. She's had a rough upbringing and old habits die hard! But she's trying her best to be the most amazing family member for you!
This beauty is waiting! Come get Evie now!
All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.
Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
