Black Labrador Retriever and Pit Bull Terrier Dogs Available for Adoption

Anita’s life almost ended before it really had a chance to begin. Picked up as a stray and taken to animal control, she found herself on euthanasia row just days later—a heartbreaking reality that’s all too common in Texas. Thankfully, Anita was rescued in time, and we truly believe she was saved for a reason.

Anita is a typical happy puppy with a joyful, playful spirit. She absolutely loves attention from people and thrives on affection. She enjoys romping and playing with her sister, Alice, as well as her other foster siblings. When playtime starts, Anita is all in—especially if there’s a toy involved!

Her favorite toys? Anything that makes noise. Squeaky toys are a win, but she’s just as thrilled with a crunchy empty water bottle, which can keep her happily entertained for quite a while.

Anita is still young and will flourish in a home ready to guide her with patience, love, and consistency as she grows. She’s already shown how resilient and joyful she can be, and she’s ready to bring that same happiness to her forever family.

If you’re looking for a sweet, playful pup with a big heart and an even bigger future, Anita may be the perfect match. These two sisters do not need to be adopted together; they will both find their own forever homes.

This dog is fostered in Texas and is available to travel north on our scheduled trips, which run at least twice each month.

Due to recent technical changes on this site that began in early December, dogs fostered outside an adopter’s immediate area may not appear unless filters are adjusted. We encourage adopters to read profiles fully and reach out with any questions — we are always happy to help. Inquiries through the site are not always coming through. Additional notes:
• Green Bay area adopters meet in Fond du Lac
• Joliet & Davenport area adopters meet in Oglesby or Roscoe
• Milwaukee area adopters: we do not have a Milwaukee stop, but we do stop in Sun Prairie, Fond du Lac, and Roscoe (near Rockford)

Medical & Spay/Neuter Information:
Most puppies travel with two rounds of vaccines, and sometimes three. Occasionally, we may not have had a puppy long enough for a second round.

Puppies under 6–8 months of age are not spayed or neutered. Spaying or neutering is a required condition of adoption and must be completed by the puppy’s first birthday, at the adopter’s expense. Out-of-state surgery costs are not included in the adoption fee.

About Our Rescue
Atlanta Texas Area Spay Neuter Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Adoption proceeds go directly toward:
• Spaying and neutering dogs for low-income families in Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana
• Medical care for rescued puppies and dogs
• Emergency veterinary assistance for families in need when possible

All dogs remain in Texas foster homes until adopted.

Breed Disclaimer:
Breed is our best estimate based on the puppy’s appearance and, when known, the mother’s appearance. Fathers are rarely known, and litters can have multiple fathers, meaning puppies may be half-siblings with different breed mixes.
