Lou Lou is a 1-year-old, 51 lb Black Labrador Retriever who was rescued off the euthanasia list at BARC. She came to us after recently giving birth, but sadly without her puppies, and it’s clear she has endured a history of abuse and neglect.

Despite her past, Lou Lou’s spirit shines through. She is naturally shy and reserved, but since entering her foster home she has made wonderful progress. Surrounded by her foster siblings, she is learning to trust people again, loves to play with other dogs, and has even started learning how fun fetch can be! Once she feels safe, Lou Lou will melt into you with the sweetest affection.

Lou Lou would thrive in a calm, gentle home with a patient family who will continue to nurture her emotional recovery. She has already shown how resilient and loving she can be, with time, kindness, and consistency, she will blossom into the most loyal and affectionate companion.

*We coordinate with multiple transport services that operate weekly to Eastern states and bi-weekly or monthly to Western states from Texas to your state or a neighboring state. These are ground transports using third party vehicles (vans/buses) converted for dog transport. Each adopter has the ability to track the van using the app Life360, and receives updates from transport along the way. Facebook chats are another resource to stay informed on tracking dogs on transport. Please be able to use one of these available services if you wish to follow your adopted dog on transport.

*Our adoption fees are based on the vetting we put into each dog. Fees for puppies (under 12 months) are higher because they require more vetting than dogs over 1 year.

*Listed breed is based on a best guess estimation by rescue and veterinary staff; DNA tests are not included in adoption.

*Our adopters are eligible to receive 50% off training with Curbed Behaviors Dog Training for programs booked within 30 days of adoption, and 25% off programs booked within 60-90 days of adoption.

*All of our adopters are invited to join our “Alum Pupdates” Facebook group, to share their story and their adorable pup with fellow Sunnyside Street Dogs adopters!
