Bichon Frise and Shih Tzu Dogs Available for Adoption

Bessie is about a 4-year-old Bichon-Shih Tzu mix whose owner has fallen too ill to care for her. She currently is about 10 lbs, and has recently been shaved to clean her matted fur. She should have a med-long, fine hair when grown back!

Bessie knows no enemies and is great with all people, children and dogs, and doesn't seem to care much about cats either way. However, she can be fearful of bigger, high energy dogs, but seems to adjust quickly.

This gentle girl would much rather be in your lap or in your arms and crawled right into young children's laps to give kisses at her first adoption event. She is crate-trained, walks well on leash, and handles busy, noisy environments well. She didn't have a yard so has been potty trained to go on pee pads.

Bessie also served her owner as a diabetes alert dog. We will find out more specifics about this!


WE ONLY ADOPT WITHIN A 2 HOUR RADIUS OF THE TRICOUNTY AREA. ***Exceptions may be made for seniors or hard to place dogs.

If the animal is under the age of 3 years old or has health issues, a vet reference is required, which means you must own a pet or have owned a pet in your name.

ADOPTION FEE of $510 covers all vetting including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, heartworm test and treatment if needed, and any other medical that may be required while in rescue. Please do not ask us to reduce adoption fees since all fees help us cover medical expenses for all of our animals, some of which can be very expensive. Saving lives is not cheap, so thank you for understanding and helping us save as many as possible.

We only do adoptions on Saturday, and not all animals are able to attend. If you would like to see a specific animal, please let us know via email and we will try to accommodate. However, we cannot guarantee the animal will be at the event without an approved application. Event locations do vary so please check the homepage or our
