Personality & Story:
Houston is a smart, energetic, and devoted dog who’s looking for a home where he can thrive. He has the herding drive of a Border Collie and the gentle heart of his Great Pyrenees and Bernese Mountain Dog roots. Houston loves car rides, travels well, and is highly food/treat motivated, making him very trainable with patience and positive reinforcement.

Houston is confident and social with people. He’s had limited experience with kids, but he’s shown no negative behaviours so far. He also coexisted well with an older household cat, respecting the established pecking order.

Energy & Needs:
Houston has a lot of energy and a strong herding instinct. He gets highly stimulated by moving objects, particularly cars and squirrels, which he tries to herd. He cannot be walked near cars, as he has slipped his collar to chase them in the past. Because of his energy and instincts, Houston requires a home that can provide structured exercise, mental stimulation, and a safe, secure environment.

Training & Behaviour:
- Knows basic commands and is very food/treat motivated
- Mild resource guarding around high-value treats (both with people and dogs), but can trade for peanut butter
- Leash training needed due to excitement around cars
- Loves crate time—sleeps well; covering the crate with a blanket helps him feel secure
- Attached to one person; looks to them for guidance and reassurance

- Cats: Can coexist with calm, established cats; high prey drive outside
- Dogs: Needs careful introductions; may resource guard with other dogs
- Men & Women: Friendly with all
