Best Guess for Age: 7 months as of April 2026 Sex: Female

Approximate Weight: 19 lbs as of 3/20/26; she is still growing!

Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!
Currently Living at: DC area foster home

Special adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think this pup would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.

Manchita is Looking For: Manchita is a sato - a dog from Puerto Rico. Someone who was hiking near Cayey, PR found Manchita in the street, looking for food. The kind human being took her and got her into a local rescue. Manchita is just a puppy - a big sweetie of a puppy - and she has so much life to live! Sniffy walks, romps in parks, adventures with her new humans - yes, please, she wants all that! And to make pup pals along the way. And to go to dog school, so she can show how super smart she is.

But most of all she wants to know she's always safe and loved, where she belongs. She has so much love and loyalty to give in return. What do you say? Can you see Manchita by your side?
What My Foster Says About Me: She is shy at first but once she trusts you, she is insanely cuddly, will always be by your side or on your lap. She gets along with other dogs and does great at the dog park. She’s very food motivated which is great for training. She matches your energy— while she still has that puppy energy, she knows when the settle down and relax. She loves daytime naps.

She’s been sleeping in her crate at night with no issues. She still has some puppy teeth so she needs a lot of chew toys but she seems to be learning what’s hers to chew and what’s not (no shoes have been sacrificed yet). Overall Manchita is a sweetheart.
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
