Beagle Dogs Available for Adoption

Lucy is a beautiful 10-year old female Beagle mix who was surrendered by her owner on March 12, 2026 because a new landlord changed the rental policy and would not allow Lucy to remain in their apartment.

This sweet senior has a red/mahogany-and-white coat with red/brown ticking, a long tail, and an adorable Beagle/Hound face with white markings on her slender muzzle and extra-large floppy ears which beg to be petted.

Lucy is an HSOV alumnus who originally came to our shelter in May 2019 after she was found on Lang Farm Road in the Marietta Ohio area. Lucy had two cute puppies (Ricky & Ricardo) with her at that time, and the puppies were quickly adopted. Lucy appeared to have had several other babies in the past, and she was the best little momma ever.

Lucy was in need of medical attention when we first met her in 2019 since she appeared to be blind in her left eye. Lucy was examined by one of our wonderful local veterinarians who made the diagnosis that her left eye should be surgically removed, so Lucy underwent that surgery in June 2019.

True to her Beagle heritage, Lucy has a very sweet personality and loves attention more than anything else in the world. Lucy is currently being housed in our front office and is being showered with loving attention to her heart's content.

Lucy is a full-figured girl who currently weighs 50 lbs. She is housetrained and walks well on a leash. Lucy has the cutest little 'bounce' in her step when she trots along beside you.

Lucy appears to be good with children, other dogs, and cats. She is a gentle soul who would be 'over the moon happy' to find a home with someone special that she could snuggle up with in their chair (or bed) and enjoy snacks and quiet time together.

The Beagle is a beloved breed known for its friendly nature, curious personality, and distinctive howl. These small to medium sized dogs are incredibly sociable and get along well with both humans and other pets. Beagles are curious and energetic, always eager to follow a scent with their incredible sense of smell, making them excellent hunting and tracking dogs. Their short coat is easy to maintain, and they are adaptable to various living environments, making them popular companions for families and individuals alike.
