Meet Pickles!
Pickles is an adorable Beagle/Hound mix girl who just came to us from someone here in Oregon. She originally was rescued from a shelter in South Carolina alongside another friendly and adorable hound mix dog. Even when we first met her, she was very friendly, social and sweet! Familiarity and experience with Beagles and other hound mixes is recommended. She has shown to do wonderfully with all ne people, other dogs and this girl dreams of having a home of her own! So far, kids and cats are unknown. Could you be the lucky hero she's been waiting for? Stay tuned for more updates and photos!

What Pickles Is Looking For:
What We Know & Why We Love Them (foster/volunteer/staff feedback):
Foster update -
Pickles is an absolute sweetheart and a joy to have around the house. Most days, you'll find her curled up on the couch, happily snoozing away - especially if there's a cozy blanket and a fireplace involved. She's truly mastered the art of relaxation and brings such a calm, comforting presence to the home.
She's also proven to be very polite and well-mannered in social settings. We recently hosted a dinner party with about eight friends, and Pickles handled it beautifully. Once everyone settled in, she came out to say hello, then quietly stayed with us for the evening. She didn't beg for food or try to snag scraps - instead, she calmly settled by our feet and took a nap.
Pickles enjoys her daily walks and would likely benefit from some continued leash training, as her hound instincts are definitely part of her charm. That said, she's generally very quiet. We've only heard her bark once when she first arrived (perhaps just introducing herself!) and a single growl when a phone call was put on speaker.
She's done well when left alone for short periods, even without a crate. While the crate made her anxious, leaving her comfortably in the living room has worked great - no stress, no accidents, and no destructive behavior. At night, she sleeps peacefully on the bed with us, occasionally stretching out before settling right back down.
Feeding has been one of the few areas where she needs a little extra patience and reassurance. She's a bit shy around her bowl, but with gentle encouragement - starting her meals with a bit of hand-feeding - she becomes much more comfortable and confident.
Another big plus: Pickles is wonderful in the car. She rides calmly and happily lays down in the back seat, making her an easy travel companion.
Overall, Pickles is a gentle, easygoing, and affectionate dog who would thrive in a home that appreciates a cozy lifestyle, calm companionship, and a loving soul who just wants to be near her people. She's truly a lovely dog to share life with. - 1/21/26
