Zoom, zoom, Zuma! This exceptionally sweet and gentle Basset Hound is looking for more than just a new home. He is intent on claiming a lap to sit on, though he refuses to take into account that he weighs 60 pounds!

Zuma is a 4-½ -year old male from Sturbridge, MA. He has a goofy personality and a face you’ll want to smoosh. He has a wonderful disposition and comes from loving owners.

Zuma is great with people, including children. He enjoys spending the day outdoors, so a fenced-in yard is ideal. He likes playing with his three other siblings, all Bassets. He gets along well with two of them, but his littermate brother brings out his dark side. Sharing with his bro is a big no.

Normally Zuma has manageable resource guarding, but his brother’s presence gets him amped up enough to instigate kerfuffles. On the bright side, Zuma trades up and knows how to drop it, leave it, and go to his crate. His guarding is limited to toys or things he should not have.

The owners say, “You’ll never find a sweeter Basset Hound.” That’s quite a statement after having nine of them for comparison! Zuma is low maintenance and would be an amazing “only” pet. He has done well being around other dogs while at the groomer and trainer, but doesn’t like strange dogs getting close to him. He’ll need to meet new dogs at a slow pace.

No young children. Older kids will have experience with dogs and be willing to respect his guarding behavior.

This is a home-to-home adoption. Zuma is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and healthy. Please contact MikeLombo23@gmail.com and tell him Animal Rescue Konnection (ARK) sent you. Thank you!

ABOUT: BASSET HOUND DOG BREED

The Basset Hound is a unique and recognizable breed known for its long body, droopy ears, and soulful eyes. Originating from France, they were originally bred for hunting small game like rabbits due to their keen sense of smell and sturdy build. Despite their laid back and affectionate nature, Basset Hounds are also persistent and independent thinkers, which can make training a bit challenging. With their low energy levels and love for lounging, they make wonderful companion dogs for families seeking a loyal and easygoing pet.
