DESCRIPTION
Hi, my name is Fir and I am from Arkansas!
From his foster: Fir is a sweetheart ! He loves to be in his bed by your heels, or he likes to be on your lap! Like most puppies, he can be a sleepy boy! He is listed as a Basset Hound mix, but his legs are not very short. He is definitely is a hound, though. At home, he is really pretty quiet. But when he knows food is coming, or he is nervous (sitting in the vet lobby), he can be loud. It isn't a bark, but more of a howl. We are working on this, for example, no food until he quiets. Potty training is great on warmer days, and sketchy on bitter cold days! It is his Arkansas blood! Fir is not a fan of his crate. But he has done amazingly well with his bed, and toys in a shut off room! No behavior problems or accidents.
ABOUT: BASSET HOUND DOG BREED
The Basset Hound is a unique and recognizable breed known for its long body, droopy ears, and soulful eyes. Originating from France, they were originally bred for hunting small game like rabbits due to their keen sense of smell and sturdy build. Despite their laid back and affectionate nature, Basset Hounds are also persistent and independent thinkers, which can make training a bit challenging. With their low energy levels and love for lounging, they make wonderful companion dogs for families seeking a loyal and easygoing pet.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
