Oscar is a newly arrived, absolutely irresistible little guy with a big personality and an even bigger heart. At about 28 pounds and around 2 years young, this adorable Basset/Dachshund mix has that classic long, low, stocky build paired with the happiest, most expressive face. He’s the kind of dog that makes everyone smile the moment they meet him.
Oscar is incredibly people-focused and thrives on human connection. He’s affectionate, cuddly, and a bit of a “velcro” dog—he wants to be near you, on you, or following you from room to room. If you’re looking for a dog who truly bonds with his people, Oscar is your guy.
He’s social and friendly with everyone he meets, including dogs big and small, and he’s gentle with children. He loves to play, explore, and be part of the action, but at the end of the day, he’s just as happy curled up next to you soaking in all the love.
Oscar is still working on his basic manners and doesn’t have formal training yet. He may jump up when excited and will need guidance with things like leash skills, boundaries, and continued socialization. The good news? He is very smart and eager to please, which makes him a great candidate for training with consistency and positive reinforcement.
He came to us from a difficult situation in the Central Valley, but you would never know it—Oscar is full of joy, resilience, and love. Whatever his past was, he’s ready to leave it behind and start fresh with a family who will invest in him and commit to his success.
Oscar would thrive in a home that can provide regular exercise, structure, and ongoing training. In return, he will give you endless affection, loyalty, and companionship.
He’s already neutered and ready to go home. If you’re looking for a fun, loving, people-obsessed companion who will be your shadow and your best friend, Oscar is ready to meet you.
