DESCRIPTION
Maverick is a 9 month old basset/boykin spaniel mix. His first owner moved to an apartment and could not take him with her. He loves other dogs but is fairly independent. He has some crate training experience but is fine without a crate (not destructive for a puppy). He is used to sleeping in the bed at night and loves to play with a ball. He will make a family a great pup! If you are interested in making Maverick a member of your family, please visit barcse.org and complete an adoption application.
ABOUT: BASSET HOUND DOG BREED
The Basset Hound is a unique and recognizable breed known for its long body, droopy ears, and soulful eyes. Originating from France, they were originally bred for hunting small game like rabbits due to their keen sense of smell and sturdy build. Despite their laid back and affectionate nature, Basset Hounds are also persistent and independent thinkers, which can make training a bit challenging. With their low energy levels and love for lounging, they make wonderful companion dogs for families seeking a loyal and easygoing pet.
The Boykin Spaniel is a versatile and energetic breed known for its hunting prowess and friendly demeanor. Originating in the United States, this medium sized spaniel is well suited for both waterfowl and upland game hunting, as well as being a loving family companion. With their distinctive rich liver coat and webbed feet for swimming, Boykin Spaniels exhibit intelligence, loyalty, and a strong desire to please their owners, making them a popular choice for sportsmen and dog lovers alike.
