DESCRIPTION
Meet Nico, the mixed breed adolescent dog. Nico came to the Shelter after his previous guardian was unable to continue caring for him. We are guessing that Nico is an Austrailian Shepherd mixed with some sort of pittie but are not entirely sure. Nico was found originally as a stray at the age of 5 months old with his littermates and no mother. He was in a home for a bit of time where he socialized with other dogs, cats and children. Nico lived entirely outdoors in his previous home but really wants to be a part of the family. Nico’s adopters will need to be patient in the transition as he is still getting the hang of potty training. Nico is an active guy that enjoys going for walks and playing with toys. Staff observed that Nico is a goofy guy who leans in when you pet him and, if you’re lucky, gives kisses. Nico may do well in a home with other animals with a slow, thoughtful introduction. If there is a dog at home, it recommended that Nico meet that dog at the Shelter prior to adoption. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
