DESCRIPTION

Looking for your new best friend? If you’ve been dreaming of a handsome, happy, gentle Aussie with a soft soul and a loyal heart…Kip may be your guy.

At approximately 18 months old and 50 pounds, Kip is a stunning red merle Australian Shepherd with blue eyes and a wiggly butt. He was a bit under the weather when he was first rescued, but he has fully recovered! Kip is neutered, fully vaccinated, housebroken and crate-trained.

Kip loves people, and he is what we call a “medium Velcro” Aussie. He loves to follow his people around—in his world view sofas are for sharing and bathrooms are for “staff meetings,” but he will also relax quietly in his crate when the humans are busy or when it is time for bed.

We can tell that Kip did not have much socialization in his past life, but he is learning his basic obedience commands, he walks nicely on leash without pulling, and he is a great passenger in the car. He is also learning how to play with toys—he now plays tug, he chases a Kong (sometimes!), and he enjoys exploring the yard and letting it all soak in. Kip is NOT a high energy, zoomies kind of guy. He is more of an easy-going, happy-to-be-here young Aussie.

When it comes to other dogs, we have exposed Kip to dogs of all sizes, both sexes and all ages. He is fine with everyone! He is learning how to play with other dogs and doing well, but he is very happy to simply peacefully coexist with dogs who are not interested in play. He is fostered with several other dogs and has shone absolutely no resource guarding or reactivity of any kind. He has not been exposed to cats.

Kip has all the makings of an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime dog, and he will thrive in a home with:
- A fenced yard
- A friendly dog companion with a similar energy level, or regular access to other dogs for playdates
- Continued positive reinforcement training—he is still a work in progress!
- People willing to give him lots of love, serious cuddles, and time to grow to be the best dog ever!

Kip is still learning his manners and he sometimes jumps when excited, so any children in the home should be at least 10 years old.

If you’re ready to show this total sweetie how wonderful life can be, you can apply for Kip on our website. Kip is fostered near the Raleigh-Durham area in NC.
