DESCRIPTION
Hi, my name is Jimmy and I am from Arkansas!
Jimmy is a happy, tail-wagging guy. Very sweet and affectionate. LOVES belly rubs. He knows sit, stay and down (as in off the furniture), but needs gentle reminders to reinforce his training. Likes to sit at the window and survey the neighborhood. He wants to play but is heartworm-positive and needs to be kept quiet and inactive until his treatment is over. Sleeps in the crate all night and is happy to be crated when foster has to leave for a short while, but he should be okay having run of the house once his heartworm treatment is completed and he's safe to run and play. He is reliably housetrained and not at all destructive.
I think Jimmy would really like another dog to play with once he's allowed to play. Maybe a quiet older dog. He's a little fearful of resident dog, but she can be pushy. He could also be an only dog if someone is home most of the day. He does get anxious if left all alone in his crate for long. He is very social and likes to snuggle.
I am currently being treated for heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious so your resident pets are not at risk! The treatment for this is 3-4 months long and requires a minimum of 3 appointments and strict rest/restricted activity. My adoption can take place during treatment, while TBB manages the financial responsibility of my heartworm treatment at The Bond Between Vet Center. Any other medical care needed outside of the specific care covered in the contract disclaimer, would be the responsibility of my new family.
ABOUT: AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD DOG BREED
The Australian Shepherd is a highly intelligent and energetic herding dog known for its loyalty and work ethic. Originating in the United States, despite its name, this breed is prized for its agility, trainability, and versatility in various dog sports and activities. Australian Shepherds have a distinctive medium length coat that comes in different colors, often with unique merle patterns. With proper training, socialization, and exercise, these dogs make excellent companions for active families and individuals seeking a devoted and playful four legged friend.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
