DESCRIPTION
Meet Togo — like a to-go cup, but pronounced toe-go.
Togo is a 2.5-year-old mystery mix. Our best guess is Australian Shepherd… maybe Husky… but honestly your guess might be as good as ours.
One thing we are pretty sure about is how he got his name. Togo has come into ACSKC as a stray three different times, and we’re starting to suspect his previous owners named him Togo because that’s exactly what he liked to do — go.
This time is different though. Togo was found quite a ways away from where he had been picked up before, and no one came forward for him. However long he was out wandering, it didn’t dull his personality one bit.
Togo is a sweet, friendly guy who seems like he’s still figuring out the whole “being a dog” thing. He’ll play with toys, enjoy some affection, and then suddenly decide he has something more interesting to investigate. He’s curious, a little quirky, and marches to the beat of his own drum.
Because of some herding behaviors we’ve seen, Togo would likely do best in a home with children 12 and older. He has done well with other dogs, though he can be a bit awkward during introductions, so a canine friend who can look past his social quirks would be a great match. During his cat test at the shelter, Togo showed that he could also live with a dog-savvy cat.
At the end of the day, Togo may have spent a lot of time going, but what he really needs now is somewhere he can finally stay.
ABOUT: AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD DOG BREED
The Australian Shepherd is a highly intelligent and energetic herding dog known for its loyalty and work ethic. Originating in the United States, despite its name, this breed is prized for its agility, trainability, and versatility in various dog sports and activities. Australian Shepherds have a distinctive medium length coat that comes in different colors, often with unique merle patterns. With proper training, socialization, and exercise, these dogs make excellent companions for active families and individuals seeking a devoted and playful four legged friend.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
