Australian Kelpie Dogs Available for Adoption in Richmond, California

Sweet Ruby is now at Milo Sanctuary getting used to her new life without her adopter from ~4 years ago. Ruby became protective and showed some herding type guarding behavior biting ankles of "intruders" not necessarily breaking skin, but caused enough of an issue that the HOA said Ruby had to go. This behavior only came out around her person, a senor woman who she was trying to protect.

Ruby is an attentive, fairly calm presence, and clearly bonds like super glue and is loyal to a fault perhaps. With another owner she can easily be managed with proper boundaries and a strong human leader. She's actually an easy going, mellow character. A tad spoiled perhaps, but not in a bad way, she just appreciates being cozy, getting good treats and loads of affection, a terrific companion for dog savvy herding breed folks.

The Australian Kelpie is a highly intelligent and energetic herding dog breed known for its remarkable agility and tireless work ethic. Originating in Australia, these medium sized dogs are prized for their exceptional ability to work livestock in various terrains.
