Meet Dopey! Perhaps the sweetest of the seven dwarves!

This precious girl is here today because our volunteers refused to let her story end in the woods. Dopey, her siblings, and their devoted mama (50lb blue heeler) were surviving outside during the coldest stretch of winter. We’re talking nights dropping into the teens. It’s truly a miracle they made it. Their mama was doing everything she could to keep them alive.

On a freezing night when temperatures were about to plunge again, our team secured the whole little family — and completely turned their future around.

Now Dopey is just over 2 months old, safe, warm, and discovering how wonderful the world can be. She may not be the “brightest apple in the bunch” (we say that lovingly), but what she lacks in scholarly pursuits she more than makes up for in sweetness. Dopey is an absolute angel of a puppy. She has a gentle, cuddly nature and loves to snuggle close once playtime winds down. Of course she still gets into her fair share of puppy shenanigans — romping with her siblings, exploring everything with wide-eyed curiosity, and creating the kind of fun chaos only puppies can.

Let’s be honest: puppies are WORK. They aren’t fully housebroken. They chew. They need patience, guidance, and consistency. But the love and loyalty you build during these early months? It lasts a lifetime. With time and dedication, Dopey will learn the ropes and blossom into a devoted companion.

LOCATION & TRANSPORT:

This dog is currently in South Mississippi. Local and out-of-town adopters are welcome. For out of town adopters, we offer virtual meet-and-greets and can arrange transport to many states in the Northeast. (The $450 adoption fee includes transport to the city on this listing. Our transports run every 2-3 weeks to that location.) We cannot adopt to Rhode Island due to import restrictions.

VETTING:

All of our dogs are cleared by a licensed veterinarian for transport and arrive to their adopters spayed/neutered with age-appropriate vaccines completed and are microchipped. Note: We cannot guarantee full grown size or breed mix. Both are guesses based on physical characteristics and any known history.
