Meet Audrey. She was found being chased by a pack of dogs and managed to get away against all odds, which is why her name is Audrey.
Audrey is as wild and fun as she is adorable! She loves to play fetch and tug-of-war, is learning how to be a proper dog from her foster brothers, and just enjoying the company of people, dogs and cats. Audrey has a LOT of energy, and we believe she's at least 50% spring-loaded She has earned the nicknames Audrenaline because she can go-go-go, and Audrey Hopburn because she can jump very, very high out of excitement. When she finally unwinds she loves to snuggle up on the couch, get pets and loved on. She's a huge fan of belly-rubs, and she'll gladly roll over on her back and move one of her legs to the side so the rubs can be extra good. She has that magical Heeler smile, which lets her get away with just about anything. If you're on the fence of getting your own Heeler, try this little pocket-sized Heeler with all the sass packed into half the size.
We estimate she was born around 11/14/2025 and she looks like Red Heeler mixed with... Chihuahua?
Crate-trained: Yes
Leash-trained: Not yet
Potty-trained: Getting there. She can go a day or so without an accident in the house.
Likes: Jumping, fetch, tug-of-war, squeaky toys, pulling out all of the toys from the toy box and playing in a sea of toys
Dislikes/fears/struggles: None- she is a confident, happy pup.
Dogs: Very good with other dogs - fostered with 3 adult males at 11, 40 and 85 lbs. She would thrive in a home with other playful dogs of any size.
Cats: Yes, fostered with two large (~18lb) very confident and tolerant cats. She does like to play with/chase them, which they don't mind, so it would depend on if your cat is okay with that.
Kids: Unknown, but she is teething so nibbles on fingers while in your lap. She should grow out of that though.
Special needs: With her leptospirosis vaccine given in her thigh, she stopped bearing weight on that leg and would yelp if gently touched a couple hours later. The vet advised to immediately bring her back where she was given a steroid injection and Benadryl. This reaction should be discussed this with vets in the future.
Otherwise she has been very happy, healthy and tough!
Audrey is being fostered in Texas, awaiting her chance to catch a flight up to Colorado. We are hoping she will be able to travel the week of February 22!
