Australian Cattle Dog Blue Heeler Dogs Available for Adoption

Sweet sweet Blackwater is a deep feeler and a snuggly little love bug.

She is only 40 pounds and thinks that she can be carried everywhere without worry

She was surrendered to an overcrowded shelter at 5 years old and she is still trying to get her bearings / figure out how to mourn the loss of her old life. She is so friendly and loves to be close to her foster family. She seems understandably worried about possibly being left alone again, but never takes her anxiety out by chewing or anything destructive. She is just a bit sad and does not have much of an appetite yet.

She does love new treats and you can see bits of joy and happiness coming into her face again randomly and it is so rewarding.

She walks great following our other dog who is exactly her size, alone she is still a little timid and wondering if Colorado is a safe place for her she is brave and tries every day though, on walks she is starting to get relaxed a bit too, you can see her remembering that life may be okay...

Backwater really wants to feel loved and bonded with her owner. She is a great snuggler and would be great as a spoiled only dog. She wags her tail a lot at our resident dogs while we work on a slow introduction to give her time to heal her heart. You can tell that she really likes other dogs and then just wants to make sure that she won't be hurt too so she is just a touch tentative at the moment. With time and love, she is going to keep coming out of her shell and be such a happy Colorado girl.
