DESCRIPTION
Meet Opie 🖤
Opie is ready to find his person — and we mean his person. The one who sees his heart, his drive, and everything he’s worked so hard to become.
Born in December 2020, Opie is now 5 years old and 28 pounds. Before coming to us, he came from a life of neglect and instability. Somewhere along the way, he lost his trust in humans and developed fear-based behaviors.
But Opie didn’t stay there.
With the help of an incredible professional trainer, Opie has officially completed a board and train program and has proven that he can trust again. The transformation we’ve seen in him has been nothing short of amazing, and we are so grateful for the structure, guidance, and expertise that helped him rebuild his confidence.
Today, Opie is a confident, capable, and incredibly fun dog.
This “short stack” (mostly Cattle Dog + Dachshund, Embark tested!) is every bit a big dog in a compact body.
He:
• Walks beautifully on a loose leash
• Is neutral and confident in public (downtown, coffee shops, beach, woods — he’s done it all)
• Knows Sit, Down, Stay, Come, and Place
• Is e-collar conditioned for reliable recall
• Is crate and potty trained
• Is dog friendly (no cats)
Opie loves to do things. Tug is his favorite game, he’s learning fetch, and he can run, hike, or even bike alongside you. He needs regular exercise and mental stimulation — that’s the heeler in him — but once his needs are met, he settles well and enjoys being near his people.
His ideal home is adult-only, active, and structured. Someone who enjoys training, adventure, and holding their dog accountable in a fair, consistent way. He would thrive as an only dog with playdates or with a confident dog who matches his play style.
To support his continued success, his adopter will receive:
⭐ Group Classes for Life
⭐ 3 pro bono private sessions
⭐ Lifetime trainer support
⭐ 10% off boarding
⭐ Access to his training videos
Opie has done the work. Now he just needs someone ready to keep building with him.
Neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date on prevention.
Located in Charleston, SC and adoptable through Bridge Between Animal Rescue.

ABOUT: AUSTRALIAN CATTLE DOG BLUE HEELER DOG BREED
The Australian Cattle Dog, also known as the Blue Heeler, is a hardworking and intelligent breed originally developed in Australia for herding cattle. Renowned for their endurance and agility, these medium sized dogs have a striking blue or red speckled coat and alert, curious expression. With a strong herding instinct and boundless energy, they require mental stimulation and physical activity to thrive. Blue Heelers are loyal, protective, and make excellent companions for active individuals or families willing to provide the engagement and exercise they need.
The dachshund is a small dog breed known for its long body, short legs, and distinctive appearance. Originally bred for hunting badgers, these playful and loyal dogs make loving companions for families. Dachshunds come in three coat varieties smooth, wirehaired, and longhaired each with its own unique charm. Despite their size, dachshunds are bold and courageous, with a curious nature that can sometimes lead to mischief. Their endearing personality and adaptability make them popular pets worldwide.
