DESCRIPTION

Meet Kotara!

This stunning girl is growing up in a shelter and would love nothing more than to find her forever family. Kotara is believed to be around 3–3.5 months old and currently weighs approximately 20–25 pounds. She is expected to be on the larger side when fully grown — likely at least 50–60 pounds, if not more. Without a DNA test we cannot confirm her breed, but her medical records list her as an Anatolian Shepherd mix, and she certainly has the look and presence of a future big, beautiful girl.

Kotara’s story began when she was found as a stray and brought to the shelter in early January. Unfortunately, she has been spending her puppyhood in a kennel, and that is no place for a baby to grow up. Like most young puppies, her personality is still developing, and the shelter environment has not given her the opportunity to fully blossom. What she truly needs is a home where she can feel safe, supported, and loved. With patience, training, and consistency, she is sure to grow into a loyal and devoted companion.

Like most young pups, Kotara is still figuring out the world and will need a family committed to guiding her through the basics — potty training, obedience, leash skills, and confidence-building. She may be a little reserved at first as she adjusts, but once she feels secure, her affectionate and playful personality shines through.

Kotara is dog-friendly and would likely benefit from having another well-balanced dog in the home to help show her the ropes. She has not been tested with cats, but given her young age, slow and proper introductions would be key. She has had limited exposure to children, so we recommend a home with older, dog-savvy kids who understand how to respectfully interact with a growing large-breed puppy.

She will thrive in a home that can provide structure, consistency, and plenty of time to help her grow into a confident adult. As a likely livestock guardian/shepherd-type mix, she will need regular potty breaks, daily exercise, and mental enrichment to meet her physical and emotional needs. A fenced yard or substantial land is required to give her the space to explore and stretch those growing legs. Due to her projected size and breed traits, apartments and condos are not appropriate placements. While prior large-breed or guardian-breed experience is strongly preferred, we primarily ask that adopters do thorough research and are fully prepared for the commitment of raising a large, intelligent working-breed dog.

The shelter Kotara is currently in is severely overcrowded, and wonderful dogs like her face uncertain futures simply due to lack of space. She deserves more than a kennel — she deserves a loving home and a family to grow up with.

Adoption Requirements:
-No apartments.
-A yard or significant land is required.
-Experienced or breed-savvy adopters are strongly preferred.

Health:
Kotara is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and on monthly preventatives. She is too young for heartworm testing but is otherwise healthy, happy, and ready to begin her new life.

Important Information:
All of our dogs, including Kotara, are currently located in Texas and will be transported only after adoption is finalized. Transport is included in the adoption fee. Breed labels are based on shelter records and appearance — we encourage adopters to focus on temperament, needs, and long-term compatibility rather than breed alone.
