Gus is a larger-breed dog with an even bigger heart. If you’re looking for a social, affectionate, and easygoing companion, Gus checks every box.

Gus is the perfect mix of playful and cuddly. He loves playing with other dogs and then relaxing on the couch with his humans. He’s very social and will happily greet new people, always wanting to be part of whatever is going on. Despite his size, he truly believes he’s a lap dog. He’s also a quiet dog and not much of a barker, making him an easy addition to most homes.

He’s extremely smart and picks up on things quickly. Gus knows commands, walks well on leash with a harness, and is crate trained. While he may let out a small whimper when you leave, he settles in just fine. He will also let you know when he needs to go outside, making him a great communicator. He’s playful in a clever way too—he even knows how to get other dogs to chase him during playtime.

Gus does great with kids of all ages. Because of his size, we recommend a home with children 6+, unless the family has experience with larger dogs, but he does well with younger kids when supervised. He is very dog-friendly with both large and small dogs, but would do best in a home without cats, rabbits or similar animals.

His ideal home would include a yard where he can play and explore, though he can absolutely do well without a yard if he gets proper exercise. More than anything, Gus just wants to be close to his people as much as possible and be part of a loving home.
