Introducing Bagel!

Bagel is a 3 year old Bully mix weighing about 50 pounds… and he is truly one of the sweetest boys you’ll ever meet.

Bagel was transferred to us from animal control after he began struggling in the kennel environment. Originally picked up as a stray in December, he has been patiently waiting for a family ever since. While the team at animal control did everything they could to keep him comfortable and help him find adoption interest, the stress of kennel life simply became too much for him. Some dogs just aren’t meant to live in that kind of constant chaos.

The stress started to take a toll. Bagel began losing weight, his once-handsome, filled-out frame becoming far too thin. He even started losing some hair and hurting himself in frustration. It’s heartbreaking to see such a gentle soul decline simply from stress and longing for connection.

We brought Bagel to our shelter in hopes that our smaller, calmer environment would help him decompress… and we’re happy to report that he’s doing well. Right now, our biggest focus is helping him gain back the weight he’s lost and feel secure again.

And let us tell you - we cannot understand how no one has scooped up this boy yet. We have absolutely fallen in love with him.

Bagel is an absolute charmer. His greatest joys in life? Being with his people and enjoying a good meal or treat (and honestly, who can blame him? ). He walks beautifully on leash and sits so politely in his kennel, waiting his turn to come out. Even after everything he’s been through, he remains gentle, loving, and eager to please.

As he continues to gain weight and feel better physically, we know his full personality is going to shine even brighter.

Bagel does seem like he would do well with calmer dogs, though meet-and-greets between any potential doggy siblings are always required. We’re unsure how he is with cats, but we can cat test him once he’s a bit healthier.

Bagel is the whole package: handsome, sweet-tempered, affectionate, and incredibly people-oriented. What he craves most is a calm home and a family to love him the way he deserves.

We cannot wait to watch him continue to heal and finally find the forever home he’s been waiting so patiently for.
