Clancy was rescued from Hamilton Animal Services mid January he had arrived as a stray, un neutered and no microchips. They estimated him to be about 6 years old. When we saw those cheeks we fell in love. As soon as his stray time was up he went to our vet. He was flea treated, dewormed, received his FVCRP and rabies vaccines, neutered and microchipped. Since he was an un neutered male and had a few battle wounds HAS had viral tested him. He came back as FIV positive which did not deter us at all. FIV is Feline Immunodeficiency Virus - a virus transferable by deep penetrating bite wounds, not casual encounters. It can not be passed to humans or dogs. This means that if he gets a cold it may take him a bit longer than a non FIV cat to recuperate . His quality of life remains the same . He needs to be kept indoors, go to the vet for annual exams fed good quality cat food and he can live a long and healthy life like any other cat you may come across. Don't cross him off your list of adoptable cats, because he will make you just as happy! It is recommended he be the only cat in the house BUT studies show that FIV cats can live among non FIV cats if they are all non aggressive or if you are looking for a companion for another FIV cat. Please read up on FIV a much misunderstood virus. Clancy is a LOVER not a fighter. He just loves to cuddle with his foster mom, play with his toys, sleep in his bed and watch the world go by from the window. His adoption fee is $250. AVA has an indoor and no declaw policy.
