**NOTE: All AVA kittens under 12 months of age MUST be adopted in pairs or to a home with another young cat. AVA does not accept applications for single kittens**
***Harper and Hope are bonded sisters who rely on each other for security, comfort and companionship. They must be adopted together.
Harper and Hope were rescued from a burgeoning backyard colony of cats and kittens being brought under control via TNR programs, and adoption stream if possible.
Harper, a classic mackerel tabby, is a little more cautious than sister Hope, and is still figuring things out and making up her mind about everything she encounters. She prefers to observe from a distance at first and will slowly come closer once she feels safe. While she’s not quite ready for cuddles yet, she’s making steady progress and just needs a bit more time and patience.
But because Harper is still a kitten, play and treats are irresistible and easy means of making friends with this skittish kitten. She tracks the flying feather and chases the fast-moving laser dot with intense focus, engrossed in the moment and forgetting her fears during play. Tube treats and Temptations are also much valued, and great ways to foster bonds of trust.
Harper and Hope would do best with a patient and understanding family experienced with shy, nervous kittens and can give them the time, love, and encouragement they need to continue building confidence. They have all the potential to grow into incredibly loving and affectionate cats anyone would be happy to call their own.
Would you like to make Harper and Hope a part of your family? Please complete our online application found at: https://www.avacats.org/adoption-application-form.
Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.
Adoption fees are $275 for each kitten up to 12 months old. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.
All AVA kittens 12 months or younger must be adopted in pairs or go to a home with another young cat (3 years or younger). Kittens learn from each other how to behave, which helps them turn into well-adjusted adult cats. In general, paired cats have happier and healthier lives because they have a constant companion and playmate. Plus, it's twice the fun for you, and half the work!
