Meet Crystal - A Survivor Ready for a Soft Landing
Crystal's story is one of resilience, heartbreak, and incredible strength.
After her previous family moved away, Crystal was left behind--unspayed and forced to fend for herself outdoors. She spent months, possibly longer, surviving the dangers of the wild, outrunning predators like fisher cats, bobcats, foxes, coyotes, and raccoons. Despite everything, she never strayed far from the only place she once knew as home.Pregnancy after pregnancy, Crystal returned to that porch, hoping for safety. Tragically, not all of her litters survived.
When the new homeowner noticed this heartbreaking pattern, they knew they had to help. A plan was put in place to safely trap Crystal and bring her to rescue. By the time she was brought in, she was pregnant again--but sadly, she miscarried her kittens. She also had visible wounds around her face and neck, likely from her time surviving outside.
Today, Crystal is safe--but she is still healing.
She carries both physical and emotional scars. You can see the fear she still holds, especially in her eyes. She is understandably cautious and unsure, learning slowly that she no longer has to fight to survive.
Crystal will need a patient, understanding home--one that will give her the time and space she needs to decompress, feel safe, and begin to trust again. A quiet environment would be ideal for her as she adjusts to indoor life.
Despite everything she's been through, Crystal has already shown us her strength. Now she just needs someone to show her kindness, consistency, and love.

A cat's behavior in the shelter may not be what it will be like in your home; if the cat is nervous, anxious, or agitated, please know that a shelter is a very stressful place for a cat. Most often, in a home, they thrive!

Kitten Policy: Kittens must be able to socialize with other young cats or dogs as playmates, as it is important for their development. Therefore, CT Cat Connection has a policy that kittens ​and teenagers up to 12 months of age are adopted in pairs unless there is another animal in the household as a playmate and companion.

Due to demand, we do not place cats or kittens on hold. Your visit to the shelter is to meet all cats or kittens available for adoption at the time of visit.
