Domestic Short Hair Cats Available for Adoption in Westland, Michigan

Dr. Drew is a part of our Hardworking Cats program. This program is generally for cats that would not be suited for traditional adoption, but that would thrive as barn cats, warehouse mousers, or indoor/outdoor companions. Hardworking cats often enjoy a level freedom and independence that other cats may not require but can bring the benefit of chemical free pest control and successfully deter other unwanted animal guests from your property.

Dr. Drew appears to be a social guy, often soft blinking and jumping up to greet when you walk by. But he also appears to be very easily stressed and frustrated, leading him to display reactive or defensive behaviors such as swatting, growling, or hissing. Dr. Drew arrived as a stray cat, and after being SNR'd to his previous location, was picked up again! This leads us to believe that he may not be an outdoor cat, but has lost his caretaker in some way. Dr. Drew may be a friendly and social guy when he's not confined to a kennel and has the space to roam and be free, but will still need a caretaker to ensure he has all that he needs as he may not be adept at the outdoor lifestyle.

Because of this, we believe Dr. Drew would do best as an indoor/outdoor cat or a barn cat. He likely would do well being able to explore outside and releasing some of his energy and using his natural instincts, but having a nice, warm place to come home to for dinner. As a barn cat, he would likely enjoy the freedoms of outdoor living, but with the assurance there is always a warm barn and a meal to be had.
